Lula L. Hunt, 89, of Emporia died on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at the Olathe Medical Center in Olathe.
Lula was born on August 27, 1927 in Hartford, Kansas the daughter of Andrew Joseph and Lula Ann Rainbolt Link. She married William J. Hunt on August 30, 1947 in Emporia, Kansas. He died on February 14, 2010.
Surviving family members include: Daughters, Mickey Lou Nutt and Husband Richard of Olathe, Kansas, and Debra Sue Moore of Lenexa, Kansas; Grandchildren, Ali Moore and Mindie Pace and Husband Garry; Great-Grandchildren, Payton Rito, Graceyn Pace, Jadon Pace, Kamdon Pace, and Kambryn Pace.
She is preceded in death by her husband Bill, Parents, and twin sister Lola Hamman Ligett, brothers Norvel Steven Link and Darrell Link.
For 24 years Lula was the Lyon County Treasurer until she retired in November 1989. She was a member of Miriam Chapter #14 Order of the Eastern Star, Golden Chain Garden Club, Past President of the Kansas County Treasurers Association, Kansas Golf Association, Ball-McColm Post #5 American Legion Auxiliary, and Lowry Funston Post #1980 Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Former President Kansas Avenue School PTA, and a former member of Social Order of Beauceant #31.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia with burial following at the Evergreen Cemetery south of Emporia. Visitation will be Tuesday night from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in memory of Lula may be made to Arab Shrine Children Transportation Fund or the Emporia State Women’s Basketball in care of the funeral home.
