Lyle Francis Williams

Lyle Francis Williams, 92, Emporia, Kansas, passed away at his home on Thursday, July 25, 2024.

Lyle was born in Saint Francis, Kansas on June 3, 1932, the son of Jesse Arlie and Dora (Arrant) Williams.  Lyle and Alvena Aherns were married at Saint Francis, Kansas on August 4, 1948. She died on August 27, 2010.  On June 6, 2012, he married Susan Mitchell in Emporia. She survives. He is also survived by daughters; Frances (Gary) Statler, Lincoln, Nebraska, Gail (Richard) Lewis, Emporia, Kansas, and Janette Williams, Emporia, Kansas, step-son; Michael Hall, Emporia, Kansas,  daughter-in-law; Eileen Williams, Emporia, Kansas, brother; Gene Williams, McCook, Nebraska, sister, Doris Myers, Great Bend, Kansas, brother-in-law; Jimmy Mitchell (Toni) Arkansas City, Kansas, grandchildren; Arlene Williams, Michael Williams, Jr., Brandy Baker, Jedediah Williams, Arian Williams, Heather Statler, Rowena Mills, Tracey Barnaby, Johanna Hall, Jena Hall, and Savannah Hopper, 21 great-grandchildren, ten great-great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, son; Michael Williams, Sr., sisters; Ruth Gipe, brother, Carl LeRoy Williams, Grandchild; Angel Lewis, and his father and mother-in-law, Wilma & James Mitchell.

Lyle has lived in Emporia since 1972. He was the Pastor of the Reading Baptist Church, Reading, Kansas and he had retired from Montgomery Ward and Quick Shop in Emporia.

Funeral Services will be held at the Reading Baptist Church, Reading, Kansas, on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow in the Reading Cemetery.   The family will receive friends at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia, Monday evening from 7:00 P.M. until 8:30 P.M.
