Mack Yenzer (93) of Emporia, Kansas, formerly of Saffordville, Kansas, passed away Thursday, October 27, 2011 at Newman Regional Health in Emporia.
Mack Yenzer, son of Seward and Margaret Wilson Yenzer, was born January 22, 1918 in Saffordville. He married Leona M. Payton on April 6, 1947 in Wichita, Kansas. She preceded him in death on July 19, 2003.
He is survived by: three daughters, Cynthia K. Adair of Edmond, Oklahoma, Barbara Grace of Wichita, Sylvia Millard of Lodi, Wisconsin; four grandchildren, Cydney Kinsey of Edmond, Daric Adair of Olathe, Kansas, Shaun Nicklin of Wichita, Allison Nicklin of Nashville, Tennessee; one great-granddaughter, Caris Kinsey of Edmond; a cousin who was raised by Mack’s parents, Floyd “Buddy” Hagins of Cottonwood Falls, Kansas; and close family friend, Florene “Flo” Ringler of rural Emporia.
Mack was also preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and five sisters.
Mack was a cattleman who bought and sold cattle in the area. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture from Kansas State University in 1941. He was a former member of the First United Methodist Church in Emporia, and had attended the Messiah Lutheran Church in Emporia. He was a member of the National Livestock Dealers Association and served as president from 1969 thru 1975, an Army veteran during WW II, a member of the Alpha Gamma Ro Fraternity at Kansas State University, and a member of the Saffordville Masonic Lodge.
Cremation has taken place. The inurnment service was held Thursday November 3, 2001 at 2:00 P.M. at Hillside Cemetery in Toledo Township, Kansas with military honors by Ball-McColm Post #5, American Legion and Lowry-Funston Post #1980, Veterans of Foreign Wars. The service was conducted by Pastor Norbert Tegtmeier of the Messiah Lutheran Church.
