Margaret Joan Rues, Emporia, Kansas, died at Newman Regional Health, Emporia, on Monday, May 23, 2011. She was 86.
Margaret Joan Ellison was born at Humboldt, Kansas on September 27, 1924, the daughter of John Wood and Mary E. (Feeney) Ellison. She married John F. Rues at Humboldt, Kansas on October 16, 1946. He died July 3, 2006. She has been a resident of Emporia since 1947.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two sons, John Eugene Rues (died March 27, 1976) and Kevin Rues (died May 12, 2010).
Joan is survived by her daughter, Marcia Diebel, Flower Mound, Texas; three grandchildren, John, Jessica, and Jordan Diebel; and a brother, Donald Ellison, Humboldt, Kansas.
Mrs. Rues was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and the Rosary Altar Society, both in Emporia.
The Rosary for Mrs. Rues will be recited at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Thursday, May 26, 2011, at 1:30 PM, with the Mass following at 2:00 PM also at the church. The Mass will be celebrated by Father Richard Warsnak. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Emporia.
