Margaret J. Squires (69), of Emporia died Saturday, September 12, 2015 at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka.
Margaret Jane Cody, the daughter of Campbell and Murlie Bowen Cody, was born August 7, 1946 in Springfield, Illinois. She had worked many jobs through her life and retired from the deli at Walmart. She was active with the “Hi Risers Club” at Horizon Plaza, where she lived.
Margaret is survived by three daughters and their spouses, Joni (Steve) Vaughn, Kelly (Jim) Baker, and Penny (Scott) Miller, all of Emporia; four brothers, Danny Cody and Al Cody, both of Springfield, Illinois, Robert Cody of Arizona, and Richard Cody of Indiana; two sisters, Kathy Fickas of Springfield, Illinois, and Kay Kerr of Winona, Minnesota; seven grandchildren, Nichole Vaughn, Ashley Davis, Kaylee Miller, Dylan Baker, Sam Baker, Allie Baker, and Teegan Baker; and her stepfather, Johnny Hayes of Shelbyville, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two brothers.
The family will visit with friends from 1:00 P.M. until the funeral service at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia. Pastor Tony Lantz of Life Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Emporia.
