Marguerite E. Magathan, 93, Emporia, died Monday, April 25, 2011 at Newman Regional Health, Emporia.
  
  
  Marguerite was born December 31, 1917 in Emporia, Kansas, the daughter of Charles Fred “Pat” and Irene L. Shaw Magathan.
  
  
  Surviving family members include: a brother, Merlen Doug Magathan, Olathe, Kansas; twelve nieces and nephews; and numerous great nieces and great nephews.
  
  
  She was preceded in death by: brothers, Lawrence, Nelson, John, M.L., Richard and James; and a sister, Mildred Applegate.
  
  
  Ms. Magathan worked for Hallmark Cards, starting in Emporia at the Commercial Street facility, then moved to Topeka for two years, then to Kansas City at Crown Center, where she managed the fourth floor. She had received many awards for production improvement in the plant.
  
  
  She had traveled the world several times, and enjoyed her many trips. She always came home on weekends, when not traveling, to help her parents. She was a good and willing worker and helped many people over the years, including her brothers, whom she helped build or buy homes. She was a graduate of Emporia High School.
  
  
  Cremation is planned.
  
  
  Memorial services will be Friday, April 29, 2011 at 10:00 AM at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home. The service will be conducted by Pastor Mike Sorsen, Presbyterian Church of Emporia. Inurnment will follow in Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia, Kansas.
  
  
  A memorial has been established with the Lee Beran Recreation Center for the Aquatics Program with contributions sent in care of the funeral home.
