Maria Christina Diaz, 63, of Emporia, Kansas, died on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at Newman Regional Health, Emporia.
Maria was born on July 24, 1950, the daughter of Manuel and Alicia Mendola De La Garza, in Arlington, Texas. She married Leo Martinez and later divorced. On January 9, 1981 she married Frank Diaz in Saginaw, Michigan. He survives.
Other survivors include her sons, Leo Martinez of Missouri, and Christopher Diaz of Emporia; two daughters, Idala Martinez of North Carolina, and Ilea Lisa Diaz of Emporia; her mother, Alicia De La Garza of Emporia; three brothers, Manuel De La Garza, Alberto De La Garza, and Rick De La Garza, all of Saginaw, Michigan.
She is preceded in death by her father, Manuel De La Garza.
Maria owned and operated Lots of Friends Daycare in Emporia. She was a member of the Jehovah Witness Kingdom in Emporia.
