Maria E. Hernandez, 70 of Emporia, Kansas died Sunday, May 14, 2017 at Newman Regional Health in Emporia.
Maria was born January 20, 1947 in Quiroga, Michoacan, Mexico the daughter of Moises Estrada and Juana Coronodo. She worked as a production laborer at Seaboard Foods in Guyman, Oklahoma until she retired in 2015. Maria enjoyed gardening and soap operas.
Maria married Pedro Hernandez, Jr. in 1960 in Caringaro, Mexico. He survives of the home. Other survivors include: sons Sergio Estrada of Liberal, Kansas, Nicholas Hernandez of Union City, California, Guillermo Hernandez of Stockton, California, Pedro Hernandez of Liberal, Kansas, Juan Hernandez of Liberal, Kansas, daughters Margarita Rico of Emporia, Kansas, Alicia Guillen of Emporia, Norma Juarez of Emporia, Rosalia Butron of Freemont, California, Gloria Lemus of Liberal, Kansas, brothers Diego Estrada, Juaquin Estrada, Blas Estrada, Jose Estrada, Juan Estrada, sister Consuelo Estrada, 29 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Mariana Hernandez, and a grandson Elian Martin Galindo.
Mass of Christian Burial was held 9:00 A.M. Monday, May 15, 2017 at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Emporia. Father John Cordes was the Celebrant.
