Maria E. Vega, 65, of Lawrence, Kansas, died Friday, November 6, 2015 at K.U. Medical Center. She was formerly of Emporia.
Maria E. Vega, the daughter of Bernardino and Jesusita Bedolla Vega, was born March 10, 1950 in Mexico.
She is survived by two sons, Jaime J. Vasquez of Fort Smith, Arkansas, and Shawn D. Vega of Lubbock, Texas; two daughters, Cindy Vasquez of Lawrence, Kansas, and Linda Woodward of Seminole, Texas; seven brothers, Efrain Vega, of Emporia, Arturo Vega of Emporia, Rigo Vega of Emporia, Mike Vega of Strong City, Manuel Vega of Emporia, Ignacio Vega of Edinburg, Texas, and Moses Vega of Edinburg; two sisters, Chela Coria of Emporia, and Dee Luther of Highland Village, Texas; and five grandchildren.
Maria was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.
She was a meat processor for Iowa Beef Processors and later Tyson Meats, and attended St. John’s Catholic Church in Lawrence.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday, November 9, 2015 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Strong City, Kansas, with Father Theodore Khin, celebrant. Burial will follow in Strong City Cemetery.
The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M. Sunday, November 8, 2015 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia.
Memorial contributions to either St. Anthony’s Catholic Church or the Strong City Cemetery Board may be sent in care of the funeral home.
