Marilee R. Bathurst, 88, Allen, Kansas, died Thursday, March 3, 2016, at the Holiday Resort, Emporia.
Cremation has occurred. A graveside service will be held at the Admire Cemetery on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. conducted by Pastor Angie Vertz.
The family will receive friends at the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia, Friday, April 8 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Marilee Rose Lowe was born in Emporia, Kansas on December 4, 1927, the daughter of Alva Roscoe and Elma Lavarre (Williams) Lowe. She married Verle I. Bathurst in Emporia on January 30, 1947. Verle died May 8, 2010.
Surviving family members include her son, Ronald I. Bathurst (Janet), Allen, Kansas, daughter, Kathy L. Bathurst Powers (Brian), Point Lookout, New York, a sister, Bonny Lowe Frye, Yuma, Arizona, brothers, Ben Lowe, Cottonwood Falls, Kansas and Jim Lowe, Melvern, Kansas, grandchildren, Brian Powers, Jr, Daniel Powers (Kristen), Brent Bathurst (Cindy), and Russell Bathurst (Emily), great-grandchildren, Cameron Joseph Powers, Brody Michael Powers, Cayden Patrick Powers, Paisley Simone Powers, Devin Tyler Powers, Sadie Ann Bathurst, Rilee Annette Bathurst, Peyton Rose Bathurst, and Hadlee Renee Bathurst.
An infant son, David Leland Bathurst, died in 1950.
Marilee graduated from Allen High School and attended Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia. She taught school at Pleasant Hill early in her career. Marilee worked at the St. John Grocery and Locker in Allen (1961-1969), Admire Bank and Trust (1970-1988) and Eureka Federal Savings & Loan (1988-1993).
She was a member of the Allen United Methodist Church, where she served as Financial Secretary and Communion Steward for many years. She served as a Trustee on the Agnes City Township Board, and helped look after the township cemeteries.
