Marilyn L. Langley, (86), of Emporia died Thursday, December 22, 2016 at the Holiday Resort Care Center. She donated her body to K.U. Medical Center.
Marilyn Lucille Allen, the daughter of Rufus and Anna Rosa Kettner Allen was born on September 10, 1930 in Emporia. She married George Langley on November 4, 1949 in Olpe. He preceded her in death on April 1, 1990.
Surviving members of the family include, four sons, Dan Langley of Reading, Gene (Julia) Langley and Ken Langley both of Emporia and John Langley of Olpe; three daughters, Pat McMahon of Emporia, Kathy Behnke of Alcester, SD, and Sandy Scoggin of Hartford; two brothers Jim Allen of Dallas, TX, and James Allen of Holton; a sister Thelma Fox of Cottonwood Falls; thirteen grandchildren, Jaime McMahon, Tyson Langley, Jill Behnke, Lisa Behnke, Mandi Higgins, Gena Jones, Crystal Langley, Kendra Naas, Jake Jones, Daphne Mayes, Rodney Jones, Gene Scoggin, Nichole Dreher; and twenty-one great grandchildren also survive.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, George; a son Bill Langley; and a brother Charles Allen.
Marilyn was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She worked as a bus driver, a Material Handler for I.B.P. and retired as a Port of Entry employee for KDOT. She also volunteered as a meals on wheels driver for Olpe senior citizens.
Her Rosary was recited 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. Fr. John Cordes will officiate. Burial in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery will be at a later date.
