Marjorie Ann Hagemann, Olpe, Kansas, passed away June 28, 2015, at Emporia Presbyterian Manor. Marge was born at the family farm home in Olpe, Kansas, on June 26, 1932, the fourth of seven children, to John and Mildred (Morrow) Nuessen, and lived in the Olpe area all of her life. She married Donald Hagemann on April 19, 1952. He died on May 11, 2006.
Marge was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olpe and attended St. Joseph Catholic School from first through twelfth grades. The Franciscan nuns were her teachers all twelve years of her attendance at the school, and she highly respected and appreciated them. She loved her Catholic Church community and Catholic school, and she promoted both by her involvement and support.
Marge was a homemaker and mother of nine children. In 1969, she joined Reeble Inc. office staff where she worked 29 years before her retirement July 1, 1997.
Marge was an accomplished self-taught artist, and her paintings can be found in homes and businesses locally and across the country. She loved painting, singing and music, and was devoted to her family. She loved all of the children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in her life. She included many foster grandchildren as family over the years – “Come in and welcome, I’m Grandma Marge!”
She loved working with children through religious and mentoring programs at the church and at the school. Marge was very social and enjoyed playing cards, games of all kinds, making people laugh, and visiting the sick and elderly in her community.
Marge is survived by her nine children: Gwen (Kevin) Tucker of Topeka, Alicia (Steve) Buehne of Derby, Lynn (Rick) Farr of Council Grove, Cynthia (JC) Lore, Randal (Deb) Hagemann of Emporia, David (Brenda) Hagemann of Chatham Illinois, Robert (Sheila) Hagemann of Olathe, Michael (Tamara) Hagemann of Manhattan, and Tricia (Bryan) Wyckoff of Cherokee; 26 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lorene Haag and Sharon Melton; and a brother, Jerry Nuessen.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; her parents; brothers, Leslie and Gilbert Nuessen; and sister, Rosella Hight.
Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olpe. A visitation will begin at 6:00 P.M., and the Rosary will then be recited at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 1, 2015. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father John Cordes on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Olpe.
