Marjorie J. Culver passed away at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas, on March 30, 2014. She was 81.
Marjorie J. (Marge) Culver, the daughter of George D. and Elsie I. Lingenfelter Sauder, was born at Gridley, Kansas, September 12, 1932. She was raised in the Gridley and Madison area. Marge attended school at Madison, graduating from Madison High School in 1950. She married Harold L. Culver in Madison on June 10, 1951.
Marge was an avid member of several golf clubs in Eastern Kansas and was a member of the Emporia Country Club. Marge also greatly enjoyed following professional baseball and college basketball.
Marjorie was a homemaker. She was a devoted mother and wife. Marge took great delight in time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Marge was involved in numerous community volunteer organizations, including hospitals in Leavenworth, Chanute and Fort Scott, where she and Harold lived before retiring to Emporia in 1991.
Marge was a member of The First Congregational Church of Emporia, member of P.E.O. Chapter of Emporia, and the Trend Club of Emporia.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Max Sauder.
Marge is survived by her husband, Harold, of the home; a son, Rick Culver and his wife Twila, of Spring Hill, Kansas; and a daughter, Terry Davis and her husband Leo, of Topeka, Kansas; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Roberts Blue Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia, on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. Pastor Andrew Mc Henry will officiate. Interment will be in Maplewood Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Emporia. Memorial donations to either the First Congregational Church or Emporia Friends of the Zoo may be sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
