Marjorie F. Schmidt, Olpe, Kansas, died at the Stormont-Vail Regional Medical Center in Topeka on Thursday, July 25, 2013, at the age of 71.
Marjorie F. Redeker was born at Emporia, on April 21, 1942, the daughter of John and Laura (Dieker) Redeker. She married Daniel L. Schmidt at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, Olpe, on October 21, 1961. He survives.
Surviving family members include: her husband; sons, Brian (Kay) Schmidt, Olpe, and John (Leslie) Schmidt, Wichita, Kansas; daughter, Brenda (Rodney) Wagner, Topeka, Kansas; brothers, Don (Pamela) Redeker, Manhattan, Kansas, Larry (Rose) Redeker, Ken (Debra) Redeker, Mike (Kathy) Redeker, and Bob (Brenda) Redeker, of Olpe; sisters, Marie (Charlie) Haag, Olpe, and Laurie Redeker, Emporia; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
She was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church, where she had served as President of the Finance Council, and also a Leader of Saint Anne Circle, and was on the Liturgy Committee. She also was Regional Representative for Kansans for Life.
Mrs. Schmidt was a graduate of Olpe High School and had taken classes at Emporia State University. She was an administrative assistant at Emporia State University for 31 years, retiring in 2004.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, Olpe, on Monday, July 29, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. The Mass will be celebrated by Father John Cordes of the church. Burial will follow in Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Olpe
The family will receive friends at the church Sunday from 6:00 PM until the Rosary, which will begin at 7:00 PM.
A memorial has been established to the church, with contributions sent in care of the funeral home.
