Farr on December 30, 1950 in Emporia and he preceded her in death on September 29, 1988. To this union in marriage, they were blessed with three sons, Warren (wife Patty) Farr of Eureka, Leslie (wife Donna) Farr and Russell (wife Cheryl) Farr both of Olpe; one daughter Laurie (husband Doug) Schmidt of Olpe. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law, Jack Kaufman of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and a sister-in-law, Lola Farr of Emporia.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Granville Holmes, II; a sister, Arleyne Kaufman; and a granddaughter, Robin Schmidt.
In her early years, she was a housewife and a mother on her and Loren’s farm in rural Emporia, where she taught herself to cook, sew, crochet, raise a garden, and can many goods to sustain their family, while remaining active in their community church, Twin Mound Friends. Through this labor, she and Loren instilled in their children the value of hard work and the resulting rewards. She later worked in the Olpe school system for many years as an office aide. She and Loren owned and operated the Farr Liquor Store in Olpe and were very active members of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, organizing events and supporting numerous charities. She and Loren also owned Farr Construction for many years; and after his death, she moved back to Olpe to be near her children and grandchildren.
Before Loren’s death, they enjoyed spending time at their Lake Kahola cabin and traveling. She was an avid story teller and enjoyed time with her family and friends making and sharing memories.
