Marvin E. Emley

Marvin E. Emley formerly of Hartford, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Diversicare in Sedgwick, Kansas. He was 84.

Marvin was born on May 18, 1941, to Ray W. Emley, Sr. and Clayoma Pope Emley. Marvin grew up on a farm southeast of Emporia and attended a one room schoolhouse until high school and graduated from Hartford High School.

Marvin worked as a mechanic at the Chevrolet dealership until opening his own business, Emley Auto, in 1975, until he retired in 2000. He married Barbara Givens and they later divorced. With this union they had 3 children.

He is survived by sons Donnie (Donna) Emley of Neosho Rapids, Larry (Tess) Emley of Lebo; daughter, Elizabeth of Emporia; 8 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; brothers, George (Jeanne) Emley of Emporia, Warren Emley of Florida; sisters, Marjorie Ross and Delores (Terry) Turner both of Emporia.

He is preceded in death by his parents, grandson Dewayne Dunn, brothers Ray and Jim Emley, sisters Geraldine Green, Alice Buss, Carolee Bussjaeger, Rose Emley and Vera Lutes as well as his longtime companion Ingeborg May.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 24, 2026, at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home with the visitation an hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Hartford Cemetery.
