Marvin Gerald “Posy” Sumner, 85, of Emporia died on July 1, 2017 at the Life Care Center in Burlington, Kansas.
Posy was born on December 12, 1931 in Emporia, Kansas the son of Pose T. and Garnette M. Day Sumner. He married Letha Mae Greenwood on April 2, 1966 in Burlington, Kansas. She died on November 5, 1989. He later married Janice Davis on September 26, 1990 in Burlington. She died on December 18, 1998.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two wives and sisters Shirley Sumner and Virginia Shivel.
Posy worked for Santa Fe Railroad. He graduated from the Kansas State Teachers College and was a member of Phi Sig Fraternity. Posy served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He is a lifetime member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He was an avid bowler and known to bowl a perfect game.
Funeral Services will be 10:30, Friday, July 7, 2017 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home with burial following at the Hillside Cemetery, Toledo, Kansas with military honors by Lowry-Funston Post #1980 Veterans of Foreign Wars and Ball-McColm Post #5 American Legion. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions to the All Veterans Memorial can be sent in care of the funeral home.
