Marvin Joseph Schmidt, rural Hartford, Kansas, died Monday, March 25, 2024, at Newman Regional Hospital, Emporia, Kansas. He was 92 years old.
Marvin was born on March 27, 1931, the son of Norbert and Loretta (Waechter) Schmidt in rural Olpe, Kansas. He attended high school at St. Joseph High School in Olpe, Kansas. Marvin married Marilea Krueger on October 3, 1959, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Emporia, Kansas. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include sons Gary (Judy) Schmidt, Rome, GA; David (Gaylene) Schmidt, Hartford, KS; daughters Donna (Gary) Thomsen, Lamont, KS; Jan (Jeff) Mercer, Olpe, KS; 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and sisters Dorothy Bowers and Shirleen Holden.
Marvin was a member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree.

Cremation is planned. The Rosary will be recited Friday, April 5, 2024, 10:30 A.M. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hartford, Kansas. Mass of Christian Burial will follow the rosary at 11:00 A.M., with burial at 3:00 P.M. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Olpe, Kansas.
