Mary Edwards, 88, Emporia, Kansas, passed away Monday, May 4, 2015 at Holiday Resort, Emporia.
Mary Celia Mejia was born May 31, 1926 in Neosho Rapids, Kansas, the daughter of Genovevo and Lupe A. (Delgadillo) Mejia.
Surviving family members include her sons, Jim Edwards and Darwin Boisen, Souix City, Iowa and John Edwards and his husband, Dr. Jamie Proffitt, Bend, Oregon; daughters, Hope Watson (Lonnie), Tuscon, Arizona, Virginia Rodriguez, Arkansas City, Kansas, Yolanda Tull, Los Angeles, California, and Sylvia Gonzalez (Isidro), Emporia; brothers, Silverio Mejia and Philip Mejia, both in Emporia, and Raymond Mejia, Austin, Texas; as well as many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Frank Munoz Mendoza and Robert J. Edwards, as well as her brothers, Refugio, Rito, John, and Albert Mejia, her sister, Georgia Velasquez, a son, William D. Edwards, and daughter, Mary Guadalupe Villar.
Mrs. Edwards was a Certified Nurse’s Aide and homemaker.
Cremation has occurred. A Rosary will be recited Thursday evening May 7, 2015 at 7:00 P.M. at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia. Graveside services at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery will be held Friday morning, May 8, 2015 at 10:00 A.M.
