Mary Lucille Humphreys, 91, formerly of Emporia, died Friday, August 7, 2015 at Ozarks Community Hospital in Gravette, Arkansas.
Mary was born on January 8, 1924 in Paola, Kansas, the daughter of Henry A. and Myrtle Ferris McCammon. She married Elmer Humphreys on February 17, 1946 in Emporia, Kansas. He died on December 27, 2004 in Emporia.
Surviving family members include: granddaughters, Shannon Carter of Ottawa, Kansas, and Kenna Brecht of Lawrence, Kansas; grandson, Dannon Brecht of Junction City, Kansas; step-grandson, Jaycee Haynes of Rossville, Kansas; sister, Ellen Price of Gravette, Arkansas; five great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Wendy Humphreys of Scranton, Kansas.
She is preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Bonnie Leonard; son, George Humphreys; sister, Destia Barrett; and brothers, John McCammon, Charlie McCammon, Homer McCammon, Reuben McCammon, and Jim McCammon.
Mary worked for Boeing in Wichita for three years before going to Crawford’s in Emporia for 12 years. After that, she worked for I.B.P. for 19 years. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Emporia; Lowry Funston Post #1980, Veterans of Foreign Wars; Ball-McColm Post #5, American Legion; and the D.A.V.
Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M., Thursday, August 13, 2015 at Messiah Lutheran Church, Emporia, with burial following at Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia.
