Mary Alice Magathan, 91, Emporia, Kansas, passed away at her home Tuesday, January 19, 2016.
Mary Alice Waller was born June 30, 1924 in Emporia, the daughter of Voris and Alice (Madison) Waller. She married Richard James Magathan in Emporia in January of 1943. He died February 28, 2002.
Surviving family members include her son, Richard A. (Nancy) Magathan, Astoria, Oregon; daughter, Carolyn Sue Eckstrom, Americus, Kansas; grandchildren, Amy (Jason) Miles, Katie (Dan) Oranen, Kent (Janelle) Fullen, and Caleb Ekstrom; great-grandchildren, Elijah and Emily Miles, Chase Oranen, Lucas Orenen, Camben, Aiden, and Boston Eckstrom, Tyson Fullen, and Alea Deal, and her children, Serenity Washburn and Paisley Spencer.
She was a member of the First Christiana Church, Emporia, for her entire lifetime.
Mrs. Magathan was a stenographer in the office of the Division Superintendent for the A.T.& S.F. Railroad in Emporia for 31 years.
Cremation has occurred. A graveside service will be held Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at the Patio Garden, Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia. The service will be conducted by Rev. David Webb, First Christian Church.
A memorial has been established to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, with contributions sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, PO Box #175, Emporia, Kansas 66801.
