Mary E. Morriss, 87, of Emporia died Saturday, December 3, 2016 at her home. Cremation is planned.
Visitation will begin at 10 AM on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at the First Christian Church, 202 E. 12th in Emporia with the memorial service to follow at 11 AM. Pastor David Webb of the First Christian Church and the Reverend Landon Whitsitt of Liberty, Mo. will officiate. Memorial donations to the First Christian Church may be sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett.
Mary Evelyn Gillispie the daughter of Robert E. and Audrey L. Dice Gillispie was born on June 12, 1929 in Chickasha, Oklahoma. She married O.E. “Bob” Morriss on June 12, 1948 in Fredonia. He preceded her in death on April 2, 1997.
Surviving members of the family include, two sons, Randy Morriss of Wichita and Rick Morriss of Douglass; two daughters, Diana Morriss of Fort Scott and Debra Merkel of Moran; eleven grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren also survive.
Mary's life was dedicated to loving and serving her family. She worked at Dolly Madison for 23 years until retirement and treasured the many lasting friendships formed there.
