Mary Maxine Schaefer, 76, of Emporia, Kansas, died on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at Holiday Resort, Emporia.
Mary was born on June 18, 1938 in Emporia, the daughter of Orville Lester and Mary Emma Porter Housley. She married Charles Ramon Schaefer on July 28, 1957 in Emporia. He died April 16, 2007 in Emporia.
Surviving family members include: son, Jay Schaefer of rural Reading, Kansas; brother, Orville Lester Housley of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; grandson, Zakariah Schaefer; granddaughter, Kalsie Lindsey; and one great-grandson.
She is preceded in death by her husband; son, Charles Lester Schaefer; brother, Richard Lee Housley.
Mary was a LPN at Newman Regional Health for many years. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Emporia.
Cremation has taken place with a memorial service 2:00 P.M., Friday, February 27, 2015 at the First Christian Church, Emporia. Burial will follow at Chicago Mound Cemetery, southeast of Emporia. Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church, and sent in care of the funeral home.
