Mary Catherine Seyler (74) of Emporia, passed away April 20, 2016. She was born November 13, 1941, in Davenport, Iowa, to George and Kathleen Erickson.
She graduated from Topeka High School in 1959. Mary graduated from the University of Kansas in 1963 with a degree in Elementary Education and was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. Mary was co-owner and operator of a pharmacy in Ottawa and later Topeka. She worked as a secretary at the Volunteer Center of Topeka and the First Christian Church in Topeka. Mary was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Rosary Group at Sacred Heart.
Mary was married to Joseph Seyler from 1962 until 1994. Survivors include two children, Constance S. Cerjan and Erica K. (Jason) Miller, and five grandchildren, Annette Seyler, Benjamin Cerjan, and Hayden, John and Paige Miller. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by a son, Michael Louis Seyler and a brother, George Erickson, II.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, April 25, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Father Brandon Farrar will celebrate the mass. Burial will follow immediately at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 819 S.W. Westchester Rd. in Topeka and a luncheon will be held at Sacred Heart Parish Hall in Emporia Following the burial. The visitation and Rosary will be held at Roberts-Blue-Barnett from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Sunday, April 24, 2016.
The family has designated a memorial fund to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Donations can be sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
