Matthew Alan Berry, 34, of Emporia, Kansas, died Tuesday, August 6, 2013 in Newton, Kansas.
Matthew Alan Berry was born August 30, 1978 in Newton, the son of Steven and Phoebe Garcia. He married Lindsey Noll in June of 2004; they later divorced. He received a Bachelor’s Degree from Emporia State University, and a Registered Nurse Degree from Butler County Community College. He worked at Newman Regional Health, Emporia.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church and had been attending Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Matthew is survived by: his father and stepmother, Jeffry and Sandy Berry of Emporia; his mother, Kim Buetzer of Henderson, Nevada; companion and her daughter, Roxanne and Jordan Cisneros of Emporia; brother, Joseph Solomon Berry of Emporia; two sisters, Gina Holguin of Newton and Jade Litton of Indiana; two stepbrothers, Ryan Benton of Olathe and Matthew Benton of Emporia; a stepsister, Kylee Poudrier of Shreveport, Louisiana; and his birth mother, Phoebe Garcia of Newton.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Malinda Berry, and his beloved dog, Penny Lane.
Cremation is planned.
The memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia. Pastor Austin Rivera of First United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will be in Isley Cemetery, near Sabetha, Kansas, at a later date.
