Matthew Raymond Rangel

Matthew Raymond Rangel formerly of Emporia passed away on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 in Springfield, Missouri.  He was 43.

Matthew was born on October 20, 1978 in Emporia, Kansas the son of Michael Rangel and Rita Mejia.

Surviving family members include: father, Michael and Roberta Rangel of Nixa; mother, Rita Mejia of Burlington, Kansas; brothers, Michael (Louann Vigil) Rangel of Dodge City, Issac Rangel of Emporia, Andrew Rangel of Emporia, and Josiah Rangel of Springfield, Missiouri; sister, Crystal (Maurice) Smith of Republic, Missouri; step siblings, Brooke Franklin, Alex Daugherty, Ryan Dougherty, and Ashleigh Daugherty; and numerous nephews and nieces.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents John and Emelia Rangel and Rito and Margaret Mejia.

Matthew was a cook at J's Carryout and Bruff's Bar and Grill.  He was an avid Chiefs fan, everyone knew his laugh, he loved disc golf, bowling.  He loved his grandmother and all of his family most of all.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with burial following at Sacred Heart Cemetery.  The rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., Monday night at the church.
