Mayetta “Mickey” V. McCorkle, 93, of Emporia died at her home on Thursday, September 24, 2015.
Mickey was born on May 7, 1922 in Emporia, Kansas the daughter of Frank and Viola Deister. She married Ovid “Corky” N McCorkle on March 29, 1942 in Emporia, Kansas. He died July 20, 1999 in Emporia.
Surviving family members include: son, Mitchell McCorkle of Manhattan, Kansas; daughters, Anita Stroud of Kanosh, Utah, Nancy Latimer of El Dorado, Kansas, and Donna Carpenter of Lebo, Kansas; fourteen grandchildren; thirty one great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband and two sisters, Dorothy Ryerson & Elise Anderson.
Mickey and Corky owned and operated the Four Seasons Laundry for 26 years before retiring in 1985. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the altar society, and the Flint Hills China Painters Club. As an avid card player she loved to win and rub it in! Her beautiful smile and caring personality warmed the hearts of so many and will be greatly missed.
Cremation is planned with Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M., Friday, October 2, 2015 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial following at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M., Thursday night at the funeral home. Memorial contributions to the Sacred Heart Catholic School or Hand in Hand Hospice in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
