MeLisa DeShell Deskines, 42, of Emporia, Kansas, died on December 27, 2011 at her home.
MeLisa was born on April 4, 1969 in Emporia, the daughter of Richard and Virginia “Ginger” Lynch Gibson. She married Scott Deskines on February 7, 1992 in Emporia. He survives at the home.
Other survivors include: her mother, Virginia “Ginger” Grove and stepfather Alan of Louisburg, Kansas; father, Richard Gibson and stepmother Janice of Emporia; brother, Kevin Gibson and wife Tina of Ozawkie, Kansas; great-grandmother Lena Lynch of Louisburg; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Margy and Curtis Gibson, and Robert Lynch; and an uncle, Kenneth W. Lynch.
MeLisa worked for over ten years at Dairy Queen west in Emporia. She was a bookkeeper for Hugh O’Reilly, and also for Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corporation for several years in the nineties. MeLisa was in the accounts payable department at Newman Regional Health for fourteen years. She was a member of the Eastern Star.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home in Emporia. The service will be conducted by Pastor Norbert Tegtmeier of Messiah Lutheran Church, Emporia. Burial will take place at Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, January 2, 2012 from 6:30 to 7:30 P.M. MeLisa had a love for animals, and the family wishes to designate memorials to Emporia Friends of the Zoo, H. Dale Buck Fund, or the Emporia Animal Shelter. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home.
