Melvin Marion Lusk

Melvin “Shorty” Marion Lusk, 90, of rural Emporia, died Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at his home.

Melvin was born on June 1, 1925 in Emporia, Kansas, the son of Lloyd Cliffton and Grace Almeda VanSickle Lusk. He married Betty Brammell in 1974 in Emporia. She survives.

Surviving family members include: son, Wes Brammell of Emporia; daughters, Marilyn Honaker of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Donna Mosby of Americus; sister, Dorla Pagels of Paola, Kansas; grandchildren, Jessica Mosby, Kelli Armour, Justin Brammell, Christopher Brammell, Kayla Burton, Tyler Smith, and Ashley Klingesmith; and eighteen great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and son, Kenneth Brammell.

Melvin was a Conductor for the Santa Fe Railroad for 42 years. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Emporia.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Monday, November 16, 2015 at Americus Cemetery, Americus, Kansas. Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M., Sunday afternoon at the funeral home.
