Michael Thomas Van Gundy, 61, Emporia, Kansas, died at Newman Regional Health, Emporia, Kansas, on Sunday, July 10, 2011.

Michael was born August 6, 1949 at Emporia, Kansas, the son of Stanley and Joan (Thomas) Van Gundy. He was married and later divorced.

Mike is survived by his son, Brett Van Gundy, North Pole, Alaska; and sisters, Judy Adkins, Emporia, Kansas, and Jerrilea Leu, Wichita, Kansas.

He attended Neosho Rapids (Kansas) Grade School, graduated from Roosevelt High School, Emporia, and attended Emporia State University.

He owned and operated Gundy’s, Gundy’s II, Michael T’s Key Club, and the Sports Page bars in Emporia, and was a car salesman at North Motors, Emporia Motors, Burlington (Kansas) Motors, Longbine Auto Plaza, and D & T Auto Sales, where he currently worked, all in Emporia.

A graveside service will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery, East of Neosho Rapids, Kansas, on Saturday, July 16, 2011, at 11:00 A.M.

The family will meet with friends at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home Friday evening, July 15, 2011 from 7:00 until 8:30 P.M.
