Michael Felipe Torres

Michael Felipe Torres formerly of Emporia, died on Friday, November 28, 2025, in Kansas City, Kansas. He was 50.

Mike was born on April 15, 1975, in Emporia, Kansas, the son of Candido and Sharon Vaughn Torres. He married Kelli Kellinger on May 20, 2023, in Kansas City, Missouri.

He is survived by his loving wife Kelli Torres of Independence, Missouri; stepdaughter, Justice (Cody); four grandchildren; brother, Matt (Elisha) Torres of Helotes, Texas; sisters, Anna Murrell of Emporia, Terri (Jose) Galindo of Arkansas City, Kansas, Kim Day, Brenda Roberson, and Suzanne (Ken Dorsey) Torres all of Emporia; and his dog Remy.

He is preceded in death by his mother Sharon Torres.

Mike worked for 27 years for Joe’s BBQ in Kansas City from cooking bbq to making onion rings. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Emporia. Mike was a quiet caring laid back guy.

The rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm, Monday, December 8, 2025, at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia, with the visitation starting from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am, Tuesday, December 9, 2025, with burial following at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Emporia.
