Milton Edward Vahsholtz, 87, of Emporia, Kansas, died on October 14, 2012 at Flint Hills Care Center in Emporia.
Milton was born on June 24, 1925 in Herington, Kansas, the son of Henry Leonard and Lena Caroline Jung Vahsholtz. He married Joan Baldwin on January 27, 1951 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Emporia. She survives.
Other survivors include: son, Wayne, and wife Tamie Vahsholtz of Emporia; daughter, Debra, and husband Doug Wright of Vandalia, Illinois; grandchildren, Tiffany, and husband William Pike, Chris, and wife Alexandra Vahsholtz, Katie Vahsholtz, Heidi Wright, and Clayton Wright; great-grandchildren, Spencer Pike, and Cooper Vahsholtz; and sister, Hattie Rathke of Americus, Kansas.
He is preceded in death by his brothers, Henry, Richard, Verner, Alfred, Martin, Rhinehard, and his twin brother, Melvin; and sisters, Irma Rathke, Ellinor Conroy, and Kate Brockmeier.
Milton was a contractor in the Lyon County area for over 50 years. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church. Milton served in the United States Army from 1944 to 1946. He was a lifetime member of Ball-McColm Post #5 American Legion, and Lowry-Funston Post #1980 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Graveside services with Military Honors by Ball-McColm Post #5 American Legion, and Lowry-Funston Post #1980 Veterans of Foreign Wars will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia. Memorial contributions to the Sertoma Miniature Train Fund may be sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
