Mona Patricia Sue Boyce, age 80, of rural Emporia, passed from this life at her home on Friday, June 24, 2016.
She was born in Cushing, Oklahoma, February 6, 1936, and was the daughter of Thomas M. Sr. and Iona May (Adkins) Hanifan. She moved to rural Emporia as a child, and attended Rosean Rural School, later graduating from Emporia High School. She enjoyed flower gardening and oil painting of which she shared with family and friends. Sue also loved to dance and sing. She was a member of the Rosean Social Club and RFD Mixers Home Extension Unit for many years. Sue enjoyed and loved spending time with family, friends, and neighbors in the community and loved being the mother of a large family.
Surviving family members include her husband of 63 years, Donald M. Boyce, her children, whom she loved dearly, Mike Boyce and wife, Connie of Emporia, Tam Price and husband, Bruce of Reading, Pam Carter and husband, Dan of Emporia, Randy Boyce and wife, Brenda of Emporia, Ed Boyce and wife, Arnetta of Admire, Ron Boyce of Allen, Tony Boyce and wife, Ann of Paola, and Jerry Boyce and wife, Paula of Henderson, NV. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, a sister, Billy Joy (Joyce) Branson of Emporia, and a brother, Thomas Hanifan, Jr. of Alaska.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Don Hanifan.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. in the Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home. Pastor Rob Clausen, First Baptist Church, will conduct the service. Interment will be in Rosean Cemetery, north of Emporia. The family will receive friends at the funeral home the hour before the service.
