Monica Van Hardesty, 40, of Emporia, Kansas, died November 1, 2013 at her home.

Monica was born July 3, 1973 in Emporia, the daughter of Van and Lynda Gayle (Fowler) Hardesty. She was a C.N.A. and worked as a private duty nurse. Monica was a member of the St. James Missionary Baptist Church in Emporia.

Monica is survived by her parents, Van and Lynda Hardesty of Emporia; sons, Tanner Lasswell and Roman Brown both of Emporia; daughters, Melissa Lasswell and Destinee’ Brown both of Emporia; sisters, Kerri Owen and husband Kirk of Hartford, Kansas, and Cleata Oller and husband Derek of Emporia; and nephews, Dustin Lingenfelter and Austin Lingenfelter, both of Hartford.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, November 7, 2013 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home in Emporia. Cremation will follow the service. Rev. Michael Moore of the St. James Missionary Baptist Church will be officiating.
