Myrna Louise Jensen, 77, of Emporia died on January 12, 2017 at her home.
Myrna was born on July 9, 1939 in Rolfe, Iowa to Roy George and Goldie Marie (Mishler) Luft. In 1957, she graduated from Rolfe High School. She married John W. Newcomb in 1967 and they moved to Emporia, Kansas in 1969. Together they had a daughter Cindy.
Myrna married Stephen P. Jensen on August 9, 1994 and she became step mother to his two daughters; Crista and Abby.
Myrna worked at various office jobs throughout her life including working at Lyon-Coffey Electric for 23 years where she served as head of the billing department. She retired in 2005.
Her interests included: playing golf; playing cards; spending time with family, friends, and her beloved dog, Miles; and enjoying a glass of wine. She delighted in her family and was especially proud of her grandchildren’s accomplishments. She was an active member of Messiah Lutheran Church and assisted with youth group and served on the board for youth.
Surviving family members include: husband, Stephen P. Jensen; daughter, Cindy L. Dziadosz; step-daughters Crista Lamphier and Abby Kunert; grandchildren Taylor and Connor Nuessen, Mathew and Anna Dziadosz, Ethan and Brooklyn Kunert, Georgia and Harmony Brandow, and Drea and Alex Lamphier; brother, George “Tony” Luft, nephews, A.J. and Aaron Luft; two great nieces Haedyn and Alexis Luft. She was Mom and Grandma to many others.
She is proceeded in death by her parents Roy G. and Goldie M. Luft and her first husband, John W. Newcomb.
Cremation is planned with a memorial service at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Messiah Lutheran Church, Emporia. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Messiah Lutheran Church can be sent in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia.
