Myrna L. Taunton

Myrna L. (Watts) Taunton, Emporia, Kansas, died at her home the morning of Tuesday, January 25, 2011. She was 63.

Myrna L. Watts was born in Kansas City, Kansas on March 4, 1947, the daughter of Frederick L. and Irma L. (Cash) Watts. She married Phillip W. Taunton at Junction City, Kansas on April 5, 1969. He survives of the home.

Other surviving family members include: their daughters, Stefanie S. Hanna, Ozawkie, Kansas, and Tiffany F. Anderson, Pomona, Kansas; her brother, Jerry L. Watts, and his wife, Barbara, Lone Jack, Missouri; and grandchildren, Peyton J. Hanna and Sydney K. Hanna, both of Ozawkie, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Myrna was Administrative Assistant to the Chief of the Emporia Police Department, retiring in 2003.

She was an avid golfer and outdoors person, and was a member of the Kansas Women’s Golf Association.

Cremation is planned. Memorial services at the First United Methodist Church, Emporia, will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 11:00 AM. The service will be conducted by Pastor Nancy Gammill of the church. Inurnment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery, East of Emporia.

The family will receive friends at the church Saturday during the hour prior to the service.
