Myron Lee Van Gundy, 88, of rural Reading, Kansas died Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at Stormont-Vail Hospital, Topeka, Kansas.
Myron was born on December 30, 1925 in Emporia, Kansas, the son of E.W. (Frate) and Gladys Ann Sedgwick Van Gundy. He married Linda K. Thomas on June 11, 1965 in Wichita, Kansas. She survives of the home.
Surviving family members include: wife, Linda; son, Warren H. Van Gundy of Emporia; daughter, Carmen J. Morrissey and husband, Dennis of Jefferson City, Missouri; two grandchildren, Jake and Megan; and three great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Joyce Karr.
Myron was a lifelong farmer and stockman. He was a member of the First Congregational Church, Emporia. Myron served in the United States Army.
Cremation has taken place with a memorial service to be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, November 14, 2014 at First Congregational Church, Emporia. A private interment will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery, Emporia.
The family requests no flowers, with memorial contributions instead to Buck Animal Welfare Fund, Emporia Animal Shelter, or Purralot Kitty Rescue, in care of Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home.
