Naomi Ann Murray

Naomi A. Murray, 90, Emporia, Kansas, and formerly of Adrian and Butler, Missouri, passed away at her home on  Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at the Emporia Presbyterian Manor.

Naomi Ann VanBenthusen was born in Adrian, Missouri on January 19, 1933, the daughter of James Wayne and Alma Marie (Deffenbaugh) VanBenthusen. Naomi and Charles W. Murray were married on November 9, 1952 and celebrated their 70 ^th wedding anniversary on Nov 9, 2022. Naomi is survived by her adoring husband Charles. She is also survived by her daughters Jan Richards, Littleton, Colorado, and Judy Walls-Moore, Emporia, Kansas; Grandsons Brandon, Logan, and Dalton Walls and David, Daniel, and Dylan Richards, and great-grandchildren Peyton, August, and Tristan Walls and Jakob, Riley, and Elijah Richards; as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Mae Marie Hahn, and grandson Logan Thomas Walls.

Naomi grew up in Adrian, Missouri. After marriage she and Charles lived in Greenwood, Missouri where they raised their daughters. Naomi was a Driver License Examiner for the Missouri State Highway Patrol, in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, retiring in 1982. Naomi and Chuck enjoyed traveling and visiting many of the 50 states. She was a member of the Twelfth Avenue Baptist Church, Emporia, Kansas and formerly the Adrian Christian Church, Adrian, Missouri.

Services will be held in the west building of Twelfth Avenue Baptist Church, Emporia, Kansas, on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia, is assisting with arrangements.
