Naomi Dickson Snyder, 87, went to be with her Lord and Savior, September 1, 2013, at her home in Emporia, Kansas, surrounded by her loving family.
  
  
  Naomi was the youngest of six children, born on November 17, 1925 to Matthew and Elizabeth Dickson, in Admire Kansas. Naomi graduated from Kansas State Teachers College, in 1947 with a Bachelor of Science in Music Education. Naomi married the "love of her life," William Snyder, June 5, 1948, in Emporia. They moved to Topeka in 1952 where they lived for 23 years before returning to Emporia in 1975. They shared 65 wonderful years together.
  
  
  Naomi is lovingly remembered by her survivors, who include husband William H. Snyder, of the home; daughters, Jana Snyder, Lawrence, Cheryl Snyder and husband Wes Brown, Topeka, and Jeri Snyder, Topeka; grandchildren, Kyle and Kaitlyn Brown, Lawrence; sister, Augusta Shepherd of Emporia; brothers-in-law and wives, Ernest and Gladys Snyder, Sequim, Washington, and Robert and Leona Snyder, Tulsa, Oklahoma; and 23 wonderful nieces and nephews.
  
  
  She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Thomas J. Dickson and Hiram Dickson; and sisters, Esther Lemke and Ruth Lyddane.
  
  
  
  Naomi taught school in Sterling and Dunlap before becoming a full-time mother. In Topeka, Naomi was a choir member and soloist at Gage Park Baptist Church. She also shared her musical talents as a soloist at many weddings and funerals. In Emporia, Naomi was active in Sigma Alpha Iota music fraternity and served as the first president of the SAI Emporia State Alumni chapter. She was a member of PEO- Chapter HY. Naomi was an active member of the Emporia Presbyterian Church.
  
  
  Naomi and her husband Bill enjoyed many trips in the U.S. and Europe, often traveling with friends. Naomi enjoyed her family, her extended family, her church, and many friends. She was loved by many people who appreciated her sweetness, her smile and her kindness.
  
  
  Visitation will be held from 6 – 7 p.m., Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at Emporia Presbyterian Church West Campus, 1702 W. 15th Ave. A private inurnment will be held Thursday morning at Reading Cemetery. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., September 5, 2013 at Emporia Presbyterian Church West Campus.
  
  
  Memorial contributions may be made to Emporia Presbyterian Church, Emporia State Foundation-(School of Music) or Hand In Hand Hospice, and sent in care of the funeral home.
