Neta C. Guthrie, 92, of Emporia, formerly of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Newman Regional Health, Emporia.
Neta Carol Grantham, the daughter of Emory Ault and Louisa (Edwards) Grantham, was born January 10, 1923 in Checotah, Oklahoma. She married Clarence Eddie Guthrie on May 10, 1942 in Warner, Oklahoma; he preceded her in death on November 19, 1975.
Neta was a homemaker, and was a member of the Church of Christ where she volunteered for the church's food pantry. She also was a former member of the Retired Federal Employees Association in Oklahoma. Neta will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by two sons, Ron Guthrie of Emporia, and Mike Roy (JoAnn) Guthrie of Marietta, Georgia; one daughter, Carolyn S. Redding of Emporia; eight grandchildren, John W. (Wendy) Redding of Austin, Texas, Sherry (Chris) McKim of Manor, Texas, Travis (Jessica) Guthrie of Emporia, Kindra (James) Roudybush of Salina, Kansas, Peter (Toni) Guthrie of Bellbrook, Ohio, Nathan (Rachel) Guthrie of Albany, Oregon, Tara (Eric) Norris of Edmund, Oklahoma, and Cory (Natalie) Guthrie of West Lafayette, Indiana; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters-in-law, Mable (Ira) Boss of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Alice Sutton of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Jean Boiles of Chickasha, Oklahoma.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, George W. Grantham; and two sisters-in-law, Frances Grantham, and Lyvon Guthrie.
The family will meet with friends 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia. Neta’s funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 9, 2016 in Memorial Park Cemetery in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to either the Church of Christ in Emporia or to any charity the donor chooses. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home.
