Noble D. Hammond, 86, Emporia, passed away at Newman Regional Health Emergency Department on Monday, October 7, 2019.
Noble D. Hammond was born in Lebo, Kansas on November 26, 1932, the son of Alfred Luke and Beulah (Kennedy) Hammond. He married Donna Messerschmidt in Lyndon, Kansas in 1965. She survives.
He is also survived by his sons; Craig Hammond, Garden City, Kansas, Troy Hammond, and his wife, Valerie, Emporia, a sister; Darlene Meyers, Salina, Kansas, five grandchildren and one great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.
Mr. Hammond was a Navy veteran, having served in the Korean conflict. He was a member of the American Legion, the National Rifle Association, and the Kansas Rifle Association. He was employed by the City of Emporia for 27 years, retiring as a heavy equipment operator.
A service will be held at the Patio Garden of memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia on Thursday, October 10 at 1:30 P.M. The service will be conducted by Pastor Ron Harris, First United Methodist Church. Military honors will be presented by Ball-McColm Post #5, American Legion and Lowry-Funston Post #1980, Veterans of Foreign Wars. Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
