Norbert A. “Nub” Hoelting, rural Olpe, Kansas, died at his home on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at the age of 96.
Norbert August Hoelting was born in Nazareth, Texas on May 17, 1918, the son of Henry Joseph and Elizabeth (Schroer) Hoelting. He married Mary Elizabeth Birkenfeld at Nazareth, Texas on October 17, 1939. She died January 16, 2011.
Surviving family members include his six daughters, Elsie Hoelting, Boulder, Colorado, Leona Hoelting, Chicago, Illinois, Viola Hoelting, Olpe, Joyce (Dick) Ratcliff, Salina, Kansas, Donna (Gary) Herron, Chanute, Kansas, and Mary Beth (Russ) Bonitatibus, Emporia; five sons, Floyd (JoEllen) Hoelting, Austin, Texas, Henry (Marsha) Hoelting, Olpe, Daryl (Kim) Hoelting, Salina, Galen Hoelting , Olpe, and Neal (Vicki) Hoelting, Wichita, Kansas; twenty-five grandchildren; and thirty-four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his five brothers and three sisters.
Nub was a farmer east of Olpe, and was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Olpe.
Cremation is planned. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, Olpe, with Father John Cordes, Celebrant. Inurnment will be in Saint Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Olpe.
The family will receive friends at the church at 6:00 P.M. Monday, May 4, 2015. The Rosary will follow at 7:00 P.M.
Memorials have been established with the church or Hand In Hand Hospice. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home.
