Norma M. Klein, Leawood, Kansas, formerly of Emporia, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2024,  at her home at Colonial Oaks, a senior living community in Leawood at the age of 90.

Norma Murlene Walker was born at the family home in Fowler, Kansas on September 25, 1933, the daughter of Eldon and Lola Muriel (Flinn) Walker. Norma married Marvin R. Klein in Fowler, Kansas on October 28, 1952. Marvin died June 12, 2023. She is survived by sons; Rick (Teresa) Klein, Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Kerry (Ginger) Klein, Emporia, Kansas, daughters; Kathy (Dan) Galindau, Leawood, Kansas, and Brenda (Robert) Owens, Overland Park, Kansas, brothers; Richard Walker, Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Ron (Kathy) Walker, Paola, Kansas, grandchildren; Paul Klein, Los Angeles, California, Abby (Dan) Smyers, Nashville, Tennessee, Sarah Klein, Los Angeles, California, and Sam Owens, Overland Park, Kansas, step-grandchildren; Chelsie (Clinton) Sowder, Burlington, Kansas, Courtnie (Seth) Wessel, Cottonwood Falls, Kansas, and Trevor (Megan) Kraft, Gridley, Kansas, 5 step-great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and other extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Marvin, infant son, Jackie Klein, and brother, Dennis Walker.

She graduated from Fowler (Kansas) High School and attended Fort Hays State University one year. She moved to Ottawa, Kansas in 1958, to Emporia in 1965, to Lee’s Summit, Missouri in 2004, then to Armour Oaks, a senior living community in Kansas City, Missouri, in 2014. In 2021 she moved to Colonial Oaks in Leawood.

After graduation from high school and before marrying Marvin, she worked in a bank in Meade, Kansas which she truly loved. After marriage she became a stay at home mom, devoting her life to her family and raising her kids. She once wrote “My children have been and are My Treasures. My Jewels”. She was a devout Christian, and for several years, she was the local chapter President of “Women’s Aglow International”, a Christian women’s organization. She was a member of Victory Fellowship Church in Emporia, and managed the Christian bookstore at the church for many years. She also served on the church’s Board of Elders and also lead several small groups from the church in her home with her husband, Marvin. In the early days of the Emporia Rescue Mission she served as a volunteer and organized a clothing room for their clothing donations. Norma had a very deep faith, loving and living for God all of her life.  And though she will be deeply missed, she will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her!! She is now at peace, in heaven, celebrating her reunion with her loving husband of 70 years!

Funeral services will be held at the Victory Fellowship Church, Emporia, on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at 2:00 P.M.. The service will be conducted by Pastor Mike Stubbs. Burial will follow at the Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia.  The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 P.M. until service time.
