Norman L. Norton, Emporia, Kansas, passed away at the University of Kansas Hospital, Kansas City, Kansas on Friday, March 31, 2017 at the age of 58.
Norman was born on June 5, 1958 at Lyons, Kansas, the son of Lewis C. and Betty J. (Jeanneret) Norton. He married Betty L. Dillon on November 14, 1981 in Wichita, Kansas. She survives of the home.
Norman and Betty have two children: a son, Ryan Norton of Manhattan, and daughter, Sara Sharp and her husband, Lee, of Richmond, Texas; as well as grandchildren, Sam and Kaylee Sharp; and a brother, James Norton, Medicine Lodge, Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Jeanne Norton Hammond.
Norman graduated from Emporia High School and attended Emporia State University. He owned and operated Norton’s Kerr–McGee until it was destroyed by a tornado in 1990, then for the next 26 years he was one of the managers of Bluestem Farm and Ranch Supply, both in Emporia. He was a member of the Westside Baptist Church, Emporia.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. at West Side Baptist Church, Emporia. The service will be conducted by Pastor Kenneth Armstrong of the church. Interment will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia.
The family will receive friends at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Monday evening from 7:00 P.M. until 8:30 P.M.
