Oliver "Sonny" L. Williams

Oliver L. “Sonny” Williams, 76, of Emporia, Kansas, died Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas.

Oliver was born February 4, 1938 in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Oliver Levester & Margaret (Coffelt) Williams. He served in U.S. Navy Reserve and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers #124. Oliver owned and operated Mid-America Electric in Emporia from 1979 until his retirement in 2012.

Oliver married Marjorie Willis on July 11, 1959 in Kansas City, Kansas. She survives of the home. Other survivors include one son, Rodger Williams of Emporia; one daughter, Sue Yoakum of Shawnee, Kansas; daughter-in-law, Jolene Williams of Lebo, Kansas, two brothers; one sister; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Kenneth L. Williams; and a grandson, John Yoakum.

The memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, April 25, 2014 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home in Emporia. Mr. Lee Hoskins of Emporia will be officiating. Inurnment will be in Chicago Mound Cemetery in Emporia.
