Opal Hulda Nichols, 99, formerly of Olpe, Kansas, died Monday, June 29, 2015, at Fairlawn Heights Assisted Living in Topeka.
Opal was born August 21, 1915 in Lyon County, Kansas, the daughter of Worda and Hulda Richard Dunkin. She married Scott “Bud” Viles on May 17, 1935 in Emporia, Kansas. He died in April 1959 in Osage City, Kansas. She then married Charles E. Nichols on April 15, 1961 in Emporia. He died on January 7, 2000 in Emporia.
Surviving family members include: daughter, Geraldine (Gerry) Viles Rosetta and husband Vic of Kimberling City, Missouri; grandchildren, Victor Rosetta and wife Terry of Springfield, Missouri, and Ramona McDonald and Husband Rick of Tecumseh, Kansas; two great-grandchildren and their spouses; two step-great-grandchildren; six step-great-great-grandchildren; sister, Grace Bayne of Emporia; two nieces; and one nephew.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, and a step-great-granddaughter.
Opal was a homemaker and helped with the farm.
Graveside services will be 11:00 A.M., Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Pleasant Ridge cemetery in Olpe, Kansas. The family will greet friends from 10:00 A.M. until departure to the cemetery, at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia.
