Pearl Jane Hughes, 59, Emporia, Kansas, died July 7, 2011 at Saint Francis Hospital in Topeka, Kansas.
Pearl Jane Berrong was born at McLeansboro, Illinois, on July 8, 1951, the daughter of Grover and Norma (Powell) Berrong.
Surviving family members include: her longtime companion, Gary Potter, Emporia; sons, David Hughes, Burrton, Kansas, Michael Hughes, Emporia, and John Hughes, Halstead, Kansas; daughter, Serena Beck, Longmont, Colorado; her mother, Norma Hoag, Emporia; brothers, William Berrong, Yale, Oklahoma, and Clifford Berrong, Emporia; sisters, Alene Davis, Emporia, and Peggy Becker, Denver, Colorado; and fifteen grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Mrs. Hughes was a homemaker, and earlier in her life she was a beautician in Halstead, Kansas.
Cremation is planned.
