Phillip Charles Myers, 62, slipped away peacefully from this life on December 5th, 2014 at Plaza West Care Center in Topeka, KS.
He was born on December 16th, 1952 in Emporia, KS to Franklin Myers and Gladys (Johnson) Myers. Phil grew up in Americus, KS where he attended Americus Elementary School and graduated from Americus High School. He followed up at Flint Hills VOTECH with a degree in agriculture. Phil then started employment at Breck’s Tire in Emporia, KS where he worked for 35 plus years as a tire specialist geared towards large tires and farm equipment.
Phil enjoyed being a man of the outdoors. When he was not on the clock working, you could find him in a field farming, gardening, cutting wood, hunting or fishing. Phil was active in wildlife conservation efforts. Rarely would you find him indoors. Phil was a lifetime member of the Americus Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include mother Gladys Myers of Americus; daughter, Sarah and husband Aaron Jensen of Emporia; his son, Michael and wife Andrea Myers of Emporia; his daughter, Brenda and husband Cory Doudican of Emporia; his daughter, Catherine Myers of Emporia; and grandchildren, Atalin Doudican, Juliette Myers, Ian Myers, Breanna Myers, Grant Myers, Reese Myers and Bryce Myers.
Gone but not forgotten- he has moved on to a higher plain, joining his father Franklin Myers.
Memorial services will be 1:00 Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home in Emporia. Pastor Jeanie Jensen of the First United Methodist Church in Emporia will be officiating. Inurnment will be in the Americus Cemetery.
