Phyllis U. Nymeyer, of Emporia, Kansas, passed away at Holiday Resort Care Center, Emporia, on Friday, December 27, 2013, at the age of 92.
  
  
  
  Phyllis Louise Unruh was born November 23, 1921 at Carlsbad, New Mexico, the daughter of Victor S. and Ethel (Smith) Unruh. She married Frederic M. Nymeyer, Sr. on December 14, 1939 in Carlsbad. He passed away September 10, 1986 in Kansas City, Missouri.
  
  
  
  Surviving family members include: her daughters, Carolyn L. Moody and husband, Ken, Shawnee, Kansas, and Barbara J. Nymeyer, Emporia; sons, James V. Nymeyer and wife, Linda, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and David P. Nymeyer and wife, Glenna, Emporia; nephew, Rance L. Nymeyer, Lubbock, Texas; nieces, Laura Jane Cahenzli, Carlsbad, and Gina Lou Nymeyer, Albuquerque, New Mexico; nine grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
  
  
  
  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one son, Frederic M. Nymeyer, Jr.
  
  
  
  Mrs. Nymeyer had worked in the business office of Newman Regional Health until her retirement 27 years ago.
  
  
  
  She enjoyed round dancing, and was a member of the Round Robins Round Dance Club, as well as square dancing, and was a member of the Bluestem Swingers Square Dance Club. She was also a member of the Silver Dolphins Swim Group which met at the Emporia Recreation Center.
  
  
  
  Services will be held at 1:30 P.M. at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home, Emporia, on Thursday, January 2, 2014, conducted by her son, Jim Nymeyer. Interment will follow in Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Emporia.
  
  
  
  The family will receive friends at Roberts-Blue-Barnett Funeral Home during the hour before the service.
  
  
  
  Memorials have been established with the H. Dale Buck Animal Welfare Fund, Hand in Hand Hospice, or Emporia Recreation Commission. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home.
