Preston D. Monroe, 69, of Emporia, Kansas, died on January 3, 2011 at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas.
Preston was born on November 28, 1941 in Emporia, Kansas, the son of W. Preston and Thena Louise Huff Monroe. They precede him in death.
He is survived by: brothers, Don Monroe of Emporia, Kansas, and Charlie Monroe of Ypsilanti, Michigan.
Preston graduated from Arkansas State University with a Journalism Degree. He later went on to be a reporter for T.V. News Company in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He returned to Emporia and was a restaurant manager at several local restaurants. Preston went on to become a maintenance worker for Four Season Apartments as well as Horizon Plaza, from which he retired recently, both in Emporia.
